This petition declares that the West Midlands Fire Service must keep the Ward End Fire Station open.
Firefighters warn that closure and sale of the Ward End Fire Station is being considered by the West Midlands Fire Service. Engines would be moved to Fire Service HQ near the city centre, and reduce one vehicle’s cover from 24 hours to daytime only.
Residents of Birmingham Hodge Hill & Solihull North are deeply concerned: losing the station would leave a gap in local fire cover, with crews travelling from further away to reach an emergency; with a cut in night cover increasing danger.
Residents fear that closing Ward End Fire Station will leave residents and firefighters at greater risk.
The petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons urge the West Midlands Fire Service to keep the Ward End Fire Station open.
