The Fire Brigades Union has warned residents that closure and sale of the Ward End Fire Station is being considered by the West Midlands Fire Service. Engines would be moved to Fire Service HQ near the city centre, and reduce one vehicle’s cover from 24 hours to daytime only. In June I wrote to the Foreign Secretary about Pakistan-administered Kashmir. This week I got a reply from the Minister, Stephen Doughty. The Government says it is "seriously concerned" and following developments closely. But for families here who are still unable to contact relatives, that is not yet an answer.
