Cars Area Together: Auckland Hall asset transfer success

Auckland Hall in Smith's Wood is the kind of building whole neighbourhoods depend on butt too often it is the kind of building that ends up being boarded up when a council can't afford to run it anymore.
But, the amazing Cars Area Together wouldn't let that happen.
I supported Cars Area Together as they successfully secured this asset transfer - the first of its kind for Solihull Council.
That means this hall now belongs to the community that actually uses it. Not owned by a committee somewhere else. Owned here.
I went down to meet the staff who made it happen. You could feel what it means to them, years of uncertainty about whether this place would even still be standing, replaced by the simple fact that it's theirs to build on now.
This is what "levelling up" is supposed to look like when it's real - a building with a future.
