A BIG STEP FORWARD FOR EAST BIRMINGHAM

My plan for one of the biggest regeneration projects in the country has taken another major step forward, driven by Mayor Richard Parker.

The new Birmingham East Mayoral Development Corporation (BEMDC) is Britain's biggest development corporation since the one set up after the 2012 Olympics. It will accelerate £11 billion of investment, thousands of jobs and homes, plus major improvements to local infrastructure, like the tram extension.

I have been battling for this for 15 years and there's still a long road ahead, but this is a serious step forward. I'll be holding everyone to account to make sure that money and jobs reach the people of East Birmingham who need them most.
