One of the main issues residents are flagging up to me is terrible housing: inadequate housing, poorly-maintained housing, dangerous housing, temporary housing.
Birmingham City Council has increased the funds it is spending on housing repairs to £240 million this year – ten times more than the £20 million invested last year – plus the council is providing land for housing associations to build houses for council tenants. These programmes will make a major difference to our city and our community’s housing stock. As will the Government’s plan to build 1.5million new houses across the country.
But I’d like to hear about your experience with housing in our city. And to learn what you think the key issues are. I will use the survey results to press the government and the council into action that benefits our community.
