Petition: Plan for Neighbourhoods Funding

LIAM BYRNE MP PETITIONS PARLIAMENT FOR HODGE HILL & SOLIHULL NORTH TO BE INCLUDED IN THE GOVERNMENT’S £1.5 BILLION PLAN FOR NEIGHBOURHOODS

Liam Byrne, MP for Birmingham Hodge Hill and Solihull North laid a petition before Parliament on Tuesday (16th September) to secure funding under the Government’s forthcoming Plan for Neighbourhoods. The petition urged the Government to ensure that no community, particularly those like Glebe Farm and Tile Cross, is left behind.

With many local families struggling to rebuild after years of underinvestment, Byrne is calling on the Government to allocate much-needed resources to these communities, which have been hit hard but continue to show immense resilience and strength. Mr Byrne said: "Glebe Farm and Tile Cross are communities brimming with ambition and heart, but for far too long they have been forgotten. This petition is about bringing together the voices of local residents to ask for what we deserve: a chance to rebuild and create a better future.

“We know our community is full of potential – we just need the Government to back us with the resources needed to make it happen." Mr Byrne will be in Glebe Farm on Friday – at the corner of Audley Road and Glebe Farm Road – if you want to come along and sign the petition and be a part of the effort to bring transformation to the area.

The text of the petition submitted to Parliament read:

"The petition of residents of the Birmingham Hodge Hill and Solihull North constituency:

Declares that this constituency should be considered for support from the Government’s forthcoming Plan for Neighbourhoods funding. The petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons urges the Government to re-allocate funding under its Plan for Neighbourhoods to support Birmingham Hodge Hill and Solihull North."
